Featured snippets, often referred to as ‘position zero,’ appear at the top of Google’s search engine results page, above the first organic search result. These snippets aim to deliver a concise and direct response to user queries. They offer substantial value to website owners, as they typically yield high click-through rates (CTRs) and can significantly increase organic traffic. There are different types of featured snippets, including paragraph snippets, list snippets, table snippets, video snippets, and accordion snippets.
This guide will help you discover featured snippet opportunities using SEO tools such as SEMRush, Ahrefs, Serpstat and others to enhance your website’s visibility on Google SERPs.

How to Find Featured Snippet Opportunities?
1. Using SEMRush
If you have a SEMrush account, use these steps to find featured snippet opportunities for your target keywords:
Step 1: Type your target keyword in the search box (e.g., ‘dresses’).
Step 2: Click the “Keyword Magic Tool” link.
Step 3: On the Keyword Magic Tool page, click “Advanced filters” -> “SERP features,” choose “Featured Snippet,” and click “Apply.”
This will display keywords that frequently trigger featured snippets in Google. To view a cached SERP preview from Google, click the small lens icon under the “Results” column.
Repeat these steps for other target keywords to discover more featured snippet opportunities for your website.
2. Using Ahrefs
If you have an Ahrefs account, use these steps to uncover featured snippet opportunities for your domain or competitors;
Step 1: Visit the Site Explorer section of Ahrefs and enter your domain (or your competitor’s domain) in the search box (e.g., ‘abelini.com’).
Step 2: In the left sidebar, click on “Organic Keywords” under the “Organic Search” section. This will display a list of keywords that the domain ranks for in SERPs.
Step 3: In the “SERP Features” filter, click the checkbox next to “Featured Snippet” and apply the filter. This will show you keywords for which the domain has a featured snippet or ranks close to one.
Step 4: To identify opportunities where your domain does not currently hold the featured snippet – select the ‘where the target doesn’t rank option’.
3. Using Serpstat
If you have a Serpstat account, use these steps to discover featured snippet opportunities for your target keywords, your domain or competitor domains.
Step 1: Log in to your Serpstat account. Navigate to the “SEO Research” section within the Keyword Research menu in the sidebar.
Step 2: Click on the “Keyword selection” menu item, Enter a relevant keyword or phrase that you want to target for featured snippets in the search box.
Step 3: Serpstat will display a list of related keywords along with their search volume, keyword difficulty, and other metrics. Click on the Filters dropdown.
Step 4: Select SERP features in the first dropdown and Featured Snippet in the second dropdown and click Apply.
Step 5: Serpstat will filter the list of keywords to display only those keywords that result in a featured snippet.
Note: You can use these steps to search for featured snippet opportunities for your competitor domains, not just keywords.
